Baked Avocado Fries

The idea really never struck me until I found an avocado recipe on Food Network's website that gave me the idea- and when I searched it up, I was surprised at how many recipes for avocado fried there were. I wanted to try baking them instead of frying them, so I'm posting one of the topmost recipes for baked avocado fries that I found first. And here it is:

Ingredients
  • ~ 3 ripe (but not overripe) avocados ~ (the ~ symbolizes the Food of the Week)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • Salt and black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1½ cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 Tbsp butter or margarine, melted
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • Cooking spray
Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 450 F. Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on the sheet. Set aside.
  2. Slice avocados lengthwise – for three avocados, you’ll get 20-22 fries.
  3. Set up three bowls in an “assembly line” (prepare your best Laverne and Shirley routine). In the first bowl, place the ½ cup of flour and add a pinch of salt and a few grinds of black pepper.
  4. Crack the eggs into the middle bowl and beat lightly.
  5. In the last bowl, combine the panko and melted butter and mix with your fingers to coat. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper and stir to combine.
  6. Dredge each avocado slice through the flour, and then the beaten egg. Coat thoroughly with the panko and place on the wire rack. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until panko is lightly browned. Cool for about ten minutes and serve with dipping sauce of choice.

Food of the Week (FOTW) May 18th- May 24th: Avocado

Guacamole is one of my very favorite dips! It's seriously the best!
But, unfortunately, this week is featuring avocados, and I figured there could be a week featuring guacamole some other time, because I have many good guacamole recipes in store. So, here's some avocado fun facts, and I'll be posting an avocado recipe or two tonight.

The avocado, or alligator pear, is technically a fruit. People avoid eating the pit, but animals should avoid eating any of the avocado, because it is noted to be very harmful to many kinds of animals (including dogs, so don't give him that leftover guacamole!) and can even result in death sometimes, even to some birds.

Really, there's not much more I can say about avocados that I know on my own, and I'm afraid that stealing it from Wikipedia might be illegal, so I won't take any chances. But, I'll post some yummy avocado recipes throughout the week, along with some other different ones.

Welcome to Recipe~Infinite!

I'm pretty sure I'll fail, considering this is my first blog, but I'd like to share all that I learned about the vast and unexplored world of food. So, here goes. I want to explain how this blog will work:

So, I figured what would be cool is that I'll feature a new ingredient each week and post lots of recipes that consist of that ingredient. Of course, during that week I'll still post some other unrelated recipes, but I'll still feature the ingredient.

Also, I don't make up these recipes. I shamefully admit that I stink at cooking for now, and that I have no creativity whatsoever when it comes to making up recipes, so I'm just taking all of my favorite recipes from some cookbooks and food websites and posting them here. It's not illegal, I believe, it's just simply sharing a recipe like everyone normally does. Maybe once I find that creativity inside me, I'll start posting recipes of my own.

And, lastly, I will try not to keep this blog just to my preferences. I love desserts, and also favor Japanese cuisine, but I will not focus just on the two; I will add recipes of all kinds of categories, and I hope this blog helps anyone out there in the Internet World.

So, bye.
